I was on my way to the ferry terminal in Batam, Indonesia this evening to make my way back to Singapore this evening when a draft of breeze brought the smell of clove cigarette smoke into my direction. The smell is distinctive and clove cigarette, Kretek is common in Indonesia since they are made here.
It brought back memories of my smoking days. I personally have a preference for them because I find the smell of clove cigarette smoke quite pleasant and distinctive. Not as bad as regular cigarettes although I personally do not endorse them or encourage anyone to smoke them.
They are packed denser, last longer and a lighted clove cigarette left unattended will extinguish rather than continue to burn like most other cigarettes.
However as a smoker during my earlier days, I have always told others who started smoking for experimentation purposes to stop and it is better never to start!
Anyway, back to the subject of clove cigarettes. Are they any “safer” than regular ones? The answer is a NO! There’s no such thing as a “safe” cigarette. It’s getting late for me and I will touch on clove cigarette in another post.
Got a flight to catch to Bangkok in the morning and a fishing trip to look forward to…
